Psilocybe galindoi var. Georgia strain. Previously described as Psilocybe atlantis.

Initially, this sample was described as Psilocybe atlantis and we assumed that was correct. Samples sent to Psilocybe expert Gaston Guzman cast some doubt on the mushroom's actual identity, but no alternative identification was suggested.

A direct comparison of samples with the published description of P. atlantis has confirmed Guzman's findings. The strain is not Psilocybe atlantis but is instead a related species in the Section Mexicanae. This new collection closely resembles Psilocybe galindoi (galindii), a species previously known only from Mexico. For lack of a better name, we are also going to unofficially call this strain Psilocybe galindoi var. Georgia . Additionally, mycologist David Allard has appropriately given the common name “ Atlanta Liberty Cap” to this species. When this species is described in a scientific journal and given a definitive name, we will amend our description.

Prolific sclerotia (a.k.a. truffles) production at a wide range of temperatures (70 to 79 F). The most forgiving sclerotia-producing strain in our collection. Produces early, abundant, very large sclerotia on rye grass seed, rice, and many other grains. Although slightly trickier than cubensis to fruit, it’s capable of reasonable mushroom production in cased trays. Does not produce abundant sclerotia in the casing.
